Ericsson brings its latest 5G innovations to Thailand at the ‘Imagine Live, Thailand 2023
- Ericsson Imagine Live Thailand 2023 showcases company’s latest, most advanced 5G portfolio and technology demonstrations in Thailand.
- Ericsson to accelerate the digital transformation of Thailand with 5G.
- Ericsson to leverage its global expertise and technology leadership to keep customers in Thailand at the forefront of 5G.
Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) today inaugurated its Imagine Live Thailand 2023 event that showcases its advanced 5G use cases and technology innovations that had been unveiled at the Mobile World Congress, Barcelona in February 2023. The highlights of the display include its latest, energy efficient radio solutions, holographic communications, digital twins and network automation demos amongst others.
On display is the Radio 4466 that supports Thailand’s existing 1800-, 2100 and 2300-MHz spectrums. Ericsson’s latest generation triple-band Radio 4466 enables Thai operators to both efficiently deliver 4G and 5G services across spectrum layers with a single unit and reduce energy consumption, carbon, and site footprints. Radio 4466, part of the Ericsson Radio Access Network portfolio, addresses site deployment challenges while providing substantial energy savings.
As a trusted partner to Thailand, Ericsson is leveraging its global expertise and technology leadership to keep its customers in Thailand at the forefront of 5G. “Building a high-performing and energy-efficient 5G network is part of our vision for resilient and sustainable future networks. Using our energy-optimized 5G portfolio, we are tackling one of our industry’s biggest challenges – reducing network energy consumption and carbon footprint while scaling up 5G. Our goal is to realize a low-carbon future while accelerating 5G experience.” states Igor Maurell, Head of Ericsson Thailand. Ericsson invests USD 4.4b in research and development annually, corresponding to almost 18% of its sales.
Thailand is clearly at the forefront of the 5G wave. According to Ericsson estimates, Thailand has over 85% 5G population coverage at the end of 2022. Data consumption per subscription in Thailand is expected to grow from 32.7 GB/month in 2022 to nearly 80 GB/month in 2025. With the 3X data traffic increase expected in Thailand by 2028, 5G is expected to manage the growing capacity requirements of the networks.
“The Thailand market is very dynamic with some of the most ICT-savvy consumers in the world. In addition, with the Industry 4.0 gathering pace in the country as per the Government’s Digital Thailand ambitions, reliable, secure and robust connectivity is imperative. The complexities that networks need to manage are placing new demands on the operation of networks. Leveraging technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning will help Communication Service Providers in Thailand manage the growing network complexity as we see new applications develop on the 5G networks,” Igor said.
Zero-touch Operations are becoming an essential facilitator for securing the future of reliable and efficient network operations. Zero-touch enables Communications Service Providers to make their network operations more data-driven, predictive and proactive. Network automation reduces the need for manual activities and enable mobile operators greater business agility.
As a global ICT leader, Ericsson is leveraging its advanced mobile broadband services, Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) and 5G technologies to support the growth of Thailand’s digital infrastructure. “We are leveraging our global expertise and technology leadership for our customers in Thailand to keep them and the country, at the forefront of 5G. Based on our industry collaborations and partnerships in Thailand, we remain committed to accelerate innovation and build a robust 5G ecosystem in Thailand.” states Igor.
